While many know of Duke University because of the legacy Mike Krzyzewski has created, those familiar with Loras College connect with the Blue Devils through Kevin White. The Amityville, New York native, White earned his bachelor's degree from St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana and later went on to earn his master's degree at Central Michigan University and his doctorate at Southern Illinois University. From 1982 to 1987, White led the Loras Athletic Department as its director and is credited with beginning the National Catholic Basketball Tournament. For 17 years, the NCBT brought collegiate basketball teams from all over the country to Dubuque, Iowa, putting Loras College in the national spotlight. White also directly oversaw Loras' return to the NCAA and the Iowa Conference, after spending nearly three decades as members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Following his time at Loras, White has spent time at the University of Maine, Tulane University, Arizona State University, Notre Dame, and currently serves as the Vice President, Director of Athletics and Adjunct Professor of Business Administration at Duke University. In 2013, White was named the Athletic Director of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). A year later, White was recognized by Sport Business Journal as the Athletic Director of the Year. White and his wife Jane reside in Durham, North Carolina and have five children and 10 grandchildren.
