Loras College women's soccer head coach Matt Pucci '08 announced the hiring of Gretchen Schutz '18 as the next assistant coach for the Duhawks prior to the start of the 2022 season. Gretchen returns to her alma mater with a wealth of experience as a member of three of Loras' NCAA Division III tournament teams.

In her first year as Pucci’s assistant coach, Schutz was a part of the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Coaching Staff of the Year while helping lead the Duhawks back to A-R-C Champions and the NCAA Tournament.  The Duhawks finished the regular season undefeated and rolled through the conference tournament before falling in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.  She coached five All-Region players and 2 All-Americans.

A three-time American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) honoree and the 2018 Offensive MVP, Schutz posted an impressive four-year career with the Duhawks. She was an All-Region selection in 2018 by the United Soccer Coaches (USC) and helped lead the team to the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament in 2016, 2017 and 2018. She ranks fifth all-time in career points (95), sixth in goals (28) and third in assists (39). Her 34 points her senior season ranks tenth in the Duhawks' single season record book and 15 assists her junior year puts her third.
