Bob Schultz - Associate Head Coach - 10th Season

PH. - 563-588-7491

Bob Schultz returned to Loras in 2005 to serve as the head men's and women's cross country and track and field coach. Schultz was previously an assistant at Loras from 1991-1994, and earned his master's degree in physical education from Loras in 1994.

Schultz recently completed his ninth season as the Duhawks' cross country coach. The men's team won the IIAC Championship in 2012 for which Schultz was named the Iowa Conference Coach of the Year.  This fall Loras’ men won Pre-Nationals in Hanover, Indiana as well as running to a perfect score of 15 at their home Dr. Robert Tucker Invitational.  On the women’s side, Loras won the season opener at Central College and their home invitational.  Loras went on to finish as runner-up on both the men’s and women’s side at the Iowa Conference Championships, the top combined finish of any IIAC school.  Schultz was named Iowa Conference Coach of the Year for the women’s 2nd place finish.  The Duhawk men went on to qualify for the National Championship where they finished 26th in the country, while Loras’ top two women qualified to the Championships as individuals.

Schultz served as Loras’ head track & field the previous nine seasons.  He has received a wide array of accomplishments during his time at Loras, including the IIAC and NCAA Central Region Coach of the Year in 2007 for men's indoor track and field. He led the men to the IIAC indoor championship in 2007 and the IIAC outdoor championship in 2005.  Schultz also led the women to a 5th place finish in 2007 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Loras Track & Field had a combined 58 All Americans in men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field at Loras, including three NCAA Division III Champions under Schultz.

Loras is Schultz's third different head coaching stop. He comes to Dubuque from Lewis University in the suburbs of Chicago. Schultz spent three years coaching at Lewis, where he coached the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field teams.  Combined between both teams, Schultz guided the Flyers to four Great Lakes Valley Conference titles in track and field and two in cross country.

Schultz has also previously served as the Head Coach at Elmhurst College, an NCAA Division III school in his hometown of Elmhurst, Illinois. He headed the cross country programs for eight years (1994-2001) and the track and field programs for six seasons.

Schultz graduated from Lewis University in 1991 after a successful career as an athlete. He ran in high school for nationally known York High School in Elmhurst, Ill. He, and his wife, Jennifer, are the proud parents of two sons, Joey and Justin. They reside in Dubuque.
