Bergan Repeats as CoSIDA Academic All-American®

AUSTIN, Texas (Duhawks.com) - Loras senior Haley Bergan repeated as a CoSIDA Academic All-American® Team, as announced on Wednesday. The Edgewood native holds a 4.0 GPA as an accounting major and was one of seven members selected to the First Team.

Bergan has been the starting libero for the Duhawks back court for her four years in the Purple & Gold. The Edgewood-Colesburg prep became Loras' all-time dig leader three matches into her senior season when she amassed 15 digs in the Duhawks' 3-0 win over Concordia-Moorhead. This season, Bergan compiled 534 digs in her senior campaign to finish with 2,326 total digs. At the conclusion of the season, Bergan ranked fourth among active Division III players for career digs.

Off the court, Bergan has been a member of the dean's list for four consecutive semesters and is a recipient of the Gantz Accounting Award as well as the Arnie Honkamp Accounting Award. She currently serves as the secretary of Loras' Student Athletic Advisory Committee and was a nominee for the NCAA Division III National Student Athletic Advisory Committee. Bergan is also a member of the Delta Epsilon Sigma National Honor Society, Phi Beta Lamba Business Club, Loras Campus Ministry and the Loras Student Alumni Council.

Bergan becomes the seventh Loras student-athlete to become a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American®, second since 2015 and first representing women's volleyball. Historically, women's volleyball has had one additional honoree in Peggy Kennedy, who was selected as an honorable mention in 1985.

To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-American® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic status at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-American® honors on more than 16,000 student-athletes in Division I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
