CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Duhawks.com) – After turning in some of their best performances of their careers senior forward Victoria May and sophomore swimmer Ike Casey were named Iowa Conference Athletes of the Week the conference announced Monday.
 

As the Iowa Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, May fueled the Duhawks to an even 1-1 record last week. Her first double-double (10 points, 12 rebounds) of the season came in Loras' convincing win over Beloit College (94-66). The win marked the second straight game in which the Duhawks won by 28 points. May followed the all-around performance up with a career-high 27 points in the Duhawks clash with No. 5 UW-Oshkosh on Saturday. Shooting 81.3 percent from the field, May had her way with the Titans defense in the paint. A force on the inside, May also tallied six rebounds, two assists, and two steals in the game. 
 

May became the fourth Duhawk to net the Female Athlete of the Week honor, joining junior volleyball player Kara Kentner, junior cross country runner Maggie Saenz-Ruiz, and senior goalkeeper Hannah Wilson.
 

An impressive week filled with six first place finishes earned Casey the accolade. On Friday, Casey tallied three first place finishes, one solo and two relays, to help the Duhawks remain unbeaten in Iowa Conference competition. Casey's time of 58.48 in the 100 Butterfly was nearly three seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Leading off for the 400 Medley relay and closing out the 400 Freestyle relay, Casey paced the Duhawks to a 110-97 victory. In the Loras dual against the Grinnell Pioneers, Casey remained perfect finishing first in the 50 Free, 100 Free, and 200 Free Relay. 
 

With Casey's accomplishment, Loras has held the Iowa Conference Male Athlete of the Week title for back-to-back weeks as junior Mirko Grcic was recognized last week.
