The Meadows Golf Course is one of the three competition sites for the Loras College men's and women's golf teams. The 6,675 yard, 129 slope and 72.4 rating (from the championship tees) course was awarded a four-star rating as one of Golf Digest's "BEST PLACES TO PLAY" in 2004, voted "Best Golf Course" in Tri-State area from 2003-2008, and ranked # 14 in the country by Golf Shop Operations Magazine for service excellence. The Meadows was designed in 1995 by award winning golf course architect Bob Lohmann using its unique bent grass tees, greens, and fairways. There are four sets of tees for golfers at all skill levels and practice greens. The club house contains a bar and grill and a pro shop. Each team typically competes here once each season and will use the area for practice. It is located in Asbury, off Asbury Road.
The second most often used course by Loras golfers is Lacoma, nestled in the bluffs of the Mississippi River in East Dubuque, IL just across the Julien Dubuque bridge. Beginning as a nine hole course in 1967, Lacoma has grown significantly into a 45 hole facility with four different courses at varying levels to play on. The Blue Course is a championship course (18 holes) that is 6,800 yards in length. The Gold Course is a nine-hole course that is considered the most difficult. The Red course is also nine holes and is best for less experienced golfers. The club also offers a small par three course for recreational play. There are practice greens and sand traps as well as a driving range for practice.
Established in 1969, the Thunder Hills Golf Course is another site for Loras College golf team competition. The course covers 50 acres with 25 acres of fairways and 5 acres of tees and greens. There are also four ponds at various locations throughout the 18 holes. The par 71 course is 6,365 yards from the black tees, 6,055 yards from the blue tees, 5550 yards from the gold tees and 5151 yards from the red tees. Thunder Hills uses Bentgrass/Poa tees and greens and a Bluegrass/Ryegrass/Poa blend on the fairways. The county club is located on Thunder Hills Drive in Peosta, Iowa.
