Justin Heinzen is in his third season as the head women's basketball coach at Loras College. In two seasons at the helm of the Duhawks, Heinzen has compiled an overall record of 33-20, which includes consecutive appearances in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.
Last season, Heinzen guided Loras to a second-place tie in the IIAC, eventually falling to runner-up Wartburg College in the second round of the conference tournament. The Duhawks, who finished 16-11 overall and 10-6 in league play, did it without having a senior on their roster.
Along with his team's second-place finish, Heinzen's squad finished in the top 25 in NCAA Division III in free-throw percentage (76.2/9th), three-pointers made per game (7.0/20th) and three-point field goal percentage (36.2/23rd).
Loras also defeated NCAA Division II member Upper Iowa University while amassing a team grade-point average of 3.307. Loras landed four players on the IIAC All-Academic Team, a pair on the all-conference list and junior guard Lindsay Bava was named to both the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Region and D3hoops.com First Team All-West Region teams. Heinzen has coached four players to all-conference honors through his first two seasons.
In Heinzen's first season at Loras, he led the Duhawks to the program's second-best season in terms winning percentage (.680) in 2007-08. After a program-best 10-0 start, which is also a record for most consecutive wins in a season, Loras wrapped up the 2007 calendar year with a 23-3 record, good for 7th best in NCAA DIII.
Prior to arriving at Loras, Heinzen spent two seasons (2005-07) serving as an assistant coach at Lakeland College (Wis.) under one of the NCAA Division III's all-time winningest coaches, April Arvan. In two seasons at Lakeland, the Muskies went 34-17 overall, capturing a Lake Michigan Conference regular season and tournament championship while making its fifth appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
He began his coaching career at Manitowoc (Wis.) Lutheran High School and has held coaching positions at University of Wisconsin-Manitowoc, Reedsville (Wis.) School District and Higher Level Camps, one of Wisconsin's premier AAU organizations.
Heinzen graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran College in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in American history with a minor in political science. A 1999 graduate of Manitowoc Lutheran High School, Heinzen lettered in basketball, baseball and cross country for the Lancers.

Randall mentioned her passion for the game of basketball and anticipation for the beginning of the Loras season earlier today.
"The move to the college game is one I've been anxious to make since leaving Elmhurst College in 2004," Randall said. "This position gives me the opportunity to pursue that dream and do it at a place with great facilities and a solid foundation for basketball set in place.
