Gorton came to Loras College from the University of St. Thomas (Minn.), where he played for and coached with Steve Fritz.  The Tommies are a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference power, and during Gorton's eight years as a member of the coaching staff, St. Thomas posted a 155-58 overall record and a 121-39 league mark, with four MIAC titles.
The Staples, Minn. native graduated from St. Thomas in 1991 with a degree in mathematics.  Greg and his wife, Kris, have three daughters, Kate (10), Isabelle (6), and Emily (3).
