Duhawks bring in summer academic awards
Tue, Jul. 30, 2013 - [Track]

Last week, the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released their 2013 academic awards for individuals and teams. Three Duhawks made the cut individually, and the women's team combined for the best GPA among Iowa Conference schools.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards: a student-athlete must have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event.

Individually, Loras high jumpers Katie Langmeier, Caitlin Groeper, and sprinter Zach Frey made the cut.

Programs earned the team honor as a result of being the highest-placing teams with at least a 3.10 cumulative grade point average at the most recent NCAA indoor and outdoor championships, respectively.

Loras' women's team representatives logged a 3.36 GPA, the best number among Iowa Conference schools.
