The Loras College women's track and field team opened the indoor season at the University of Dubuque's Sol Butler Classic on Saturday. The Duhawks finished fifth of nine teams and won three events.

Junior Danielle McNally won both the shot put and weight throw on Saturday afternoon. McNally won the shot put with an 11.95m toss, 1.15m better than second place. She managed a 14.79m distance in the weight throw, good for 1.55m better than the runner up. In each event, sophomore Meggen Elsen contributed team points with a seventh place finish in the shot put (9.72m) and a third place in the weight throw (11.84m). For her efforts, McNally was named the Iowa Conference's IIAC Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week.

Mary Bridget Corken returned to the track for her final season as a Duhawk and easily won the 3,000 Meter Run. Corken finished in 10:35.61, more than 35 seconds faster than the runner-up. Corken owns Loras' best time in the 3,000, a number she set last season.

Other top finishes included Molly Sieverding in the 55 Meter Dash (7th), Maria Kalb in the 400 Meter Dash (2nd), Hannah Weiss and Laura Rieger finished 2-3 in the 600, and Caitlin Groeper was fifth in the High Jump. Weiss' time was a school record in the event, and now owns two of the top three fastest times in that event.
