The Loras College baseball team traveled to Luther College for a four game weekend series that would end in 2-2 a split.  The Duhakws took the first two games on Friday and the Norse took the final two on Saturday.  After the weekend Loras is tied for fourth place in the IIAC standings with a record of 9-11.

Will Petrosky earned the win (now 3-2) in the first of two games on Friday pitching 5.2 innings, giving up four hits and three runs. Petrosky did record seven strikeouts on the day.  Jeremy Grady came on in the late innings and recorded the save, his third on the year.

The Duhawks hung a crooked number in the first inning scoring three runs on four hits.  Pat Walsh drove in one run on a single to center field after Canevello and Pudlo both singled to start off the day.  Niko Andriotis doubled driving in Canevello and Walsh. Loras would add four runs in the fourth inning and another insurance run in the seventh.

Adam Schwoebel started the second game for the Duhawks. He pitched six innings, giving up nine hits and four runs.  He recorded the win and improved his record to 4-1 on the year.  Jeremy Grady came on in relief and recorded his second save of the day pitching three shutout innings for the Duhawks.

Loras continued with their hot bats and put three runs on the board in the first inning for the second straight game.  It was the top of the line-up again for the Duhawks who put a lot of pressure on Luther pitchers early and often.  Niko Andriotis went 4-4 on the day with 3 doubles, a single, and a walk to lead the offense.

Ben Cottrell took the mound for the Duhawks in the first of two games on Saturday afternoon.  Cottrell pitched six innings gave up five hits and four runs (two earned). Ben took the loss which moves his record to 3-3 on the year.

The Duhawk bats went cold compared to Friday and only recorded four hits in the first game of the day, to go with a lone run in the seventh inning. Eric DeSousa had two of the four hits and drove in Mike Canevello for Loras' run.

Jake Norton got the start in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. He pitched 5.2 innings giving up two hits, and three runs.  Donny Baran came on in relief and pitched 1.1 innings giving up two hits and three runs.  Baran took the loss which moves his record to 0-1 on the year.

The Duhawk bats came alive in the second game scoring three runs in the first inning on three hits and two costly errors by the Norse. Loras scored again in the fourth and sixth innings but that wasn't enough for the Duhawks as the Norse went on to win 6-5 thanks to a three-run seventh inning against Baran.

Niko Andriotis went 7-for-14 at the plate for the Duhawks over the weekend after being inserted as the DH this week.

Loras will play Tuesday at University of Dubuque (9-21, 7-15) in a key doubleheader in the IIAC standings for both teams. The teams split their doubleheader at Petrakis Park on two weeks ago. Loras won Game 1, 1-0, in the bottom of the seventh inning. Dubuque won Game 2, 4-0 after scoring three runs in the top of the first.
