With Mother Nature enforcing her will once again, the Duhawks and the Knights delayed their Iowa Conference weekend series by a day, but not even this could get in the way of the Knights. Wartburg came into the weekend series in second place in the IIAC, winning three out of four from both Simpson and Buena Vista. Loras came in riding high, after completing a four game sweep of Simpson and taking two wins over Central.

This time around, the Knights would take control early, and never let up. Outscoring the Duhawks 28-4 over the course of the four games, the Loras offense sputtered and never was able to fully get going. The timely hitting that helped propel the Duhawks to victory just one week earlier was held in check by Wartburg.

Highlights on the weekend included a number of slick diving catches as well as home runs from Alex Rodriguez and Mike Canevello. The home run by Canevello was his first collegiate home run.

The good news is that more than half of the conference schedule is still to be played, and the Duhawks have time to regroup and get their bats going again. A quick turnaround this week should help push this series into the background.

Loras will host crosstown rival University of Dubuque this Tuesday, with game one of the doubleheader commencing at 3:30pm. The Spartans have experienced some troubles of their own this season, currently sitting at 3-9 in the Iowa Conference.
