Loras 3rd/7 – RESULTS

The Loras College men's track and field team was in St. Louis last Friday for the Washington University Mini Meet. Two events won titles and Loras was third in the team standings.

Austin Steil headlined the individual efforts on Friday with his win in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase. Steil won by nearly six seconds over the runner-up in a top time of 9:45.56.

The other win for the Duhawks came from the 4x400 relay team. Josh Goerdt ran the leadoff leg and was followed by Zach Frey, Zac Gassman, and Stedman Foster. The quartet ran a 3:23.59 to finish two seconds ahead of Carthage's team.

The Duhawks added a runner-up finished from Tim Derr in the 110 Meter Hurdles (15.72).

The Iowa Conference weekly track award went to Steil this week for his efforts in the Steeplechase.

"Considering we've had some ugly weather here, it was a very good opener for us," head coach Bob Schultz.

Next up for the Duhawks – following the Easter holiday – is the April 6 Wartburg Select meet in Waverly.
