Loras 3rd/6 – RESULTS

The Loras College women's track and field team was in St. Louis last Friday for the Washington University Mini Meet. Three Duhawks won individual titles and Loras was third in the team standings.

Laura Wondra, Morgan Steere, and Katie Langmeier each recorded ten team points with their individual titles. Wondra won the Long Jump by almost two feet with her 17-4.25, her first effort of the day. Langmeier brought home the High Jump title once again – leaping 5-5. She is nearing the school record, which she attempted but didn't clear on Friday. Second in the high jump was Caitlin Groeper at 5-3.

Steere was responsible for 21 team points in her three throwing events. She took home the Shot Put title with her 39-3.75, was third in the Discus with her 103-8, and fourth with her 121-9 in the Hammer Throw.

Wondra, Steere (shot put), Langmeier, and Groeper were each in the top 20 in the country in their events following the weekend.

Langmeier brought in the IIAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week award as a result of her win.

"Considering we've had some ugly weather here, it was a very good opener for us," head coach Bob Schultz.

Next up for the Duhawks – following the Easter holiday – is the April 6 Wartburg Select meet in Waverly.
