The women's track and field team was at University of Dubuque's campus this weekend – along with the other six conference schools – for the 2013 Iowa Conference Indoor Championships. The team finished with 95 points, good for fourth place.
Iowa Conference titles went to Katie Langmeier and Rachel Kolbeck in a pair of field events. Langmeier's High Jump of 5-4.5 was the second place efforts of 5-2. That mark was met by teammate Caitlin Groeper, who was a part of a four-person group to reach the runner-up height. Groeper took home third place points.
Rachel Kolbeck was tops once again in the Pole Vault. She was the only participant to reach the 11-foot mark on the day. Teammates Alexxe Richer and Emily Roth earned third and fourth place points for their 10-foot efforts.
Abby Davis' strong first season continued with an All-IIAC performance in the 55 Meter Dash. She ran a 7.33 to finish third. She was one of only two freshmen to make the finals. She added a sixth place in the 200 Meter Dash.
Morgan Steere was third in the Shot Put, topping out at over 39 feet. She was also fifth in the Weight Throw.
Laura Wondra was runner-up in the Long Jump, leaping over 17 feet on her best effort. She was also the anchor on the fourth place 4x200 relay team and fourth in the Pentathlon – winning both the 55 Meter Hurdles and Long Jump events and placing second in the 800 Meter Run.
Loras' Distance Medley Relay team also finished third. Becky Hilby, Melissa Kroll, Katie Flogel, and Kellie Wagner teamed up to finish one second ahead of Central's squad.
There's one week's worth of ‘Last Chance' meets available to the Duhawks ahead of the March 8-9 NCAA Championships at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.
