The Loras College men's basketball team shot a blazing 81% in the first half of their Wednesday road game with the Luther Norse and held on to win the contest, 68-55.

Loras dominated the glass, 44-25, en route to the win. Dan Pawelski pulled down nine and Jordan Harrelson and Alex Brant each brought down seven from their front court positions. Three players scored in double figures, including Pawelski's 11, Travis Guy's 11, and a team high 16 from Tim Kelly. Kelly went 7-of-10 from the field to up his field goal percentage to 59%.

The Norse also had three players in double figures, but Loras' defense was able to hold them to 35% shooting, a full 15% lower than what the Duhawks were allowing entering the game. Loras had claimed the lead three minutes into the game and didn't give it up, taking a 21 point lead into the halftime intermission. Three times in the second half Luther cut the lead to eight points, but never got any closer.

After making 21 baskets in the first half, Loras converted only six in the second half, but the first half effort proved enough to earn the win, as the Norse made just 20 over the 40 minutes of game time and the rebounding limited the home team to just four second chance points.

The Duhawks remain on the road on Saturday when they travel to Simpson. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 PM. They are now 2-2 in the league and above .500 at 7-6.
