Neely makes Top Ten list

The Loras College men's track and field team was back at it for the second straight weekend in Monmouth, Illinois on Saturday. The Duhawks won ten events finish in the top three, including a Loras Top Ten performance by Keontae Neely


In the field events, Neely placed second in the Long Jump (21-4.25) and Triple Jump (43-6).  His Triple Jump effort was also good for #10 on Loras' all time list. Sam Ross was second in the Shot Put, tossing his best effort on his first of the day, over 46 feet. Freshman Greg Cox added a second place finish in the High Jump, topping out at 6-0.50.


On the track, both the 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams finished second. Josh Goerdt, Zac Gassman, and Zach Frey ran both, with Nick Ball leading the 4x200 team and Sean Lewis anchoring the 4x400 team. Ball's grouping finished in 1:31.85, Lewis' in 3:31.88. The Distance Medley team of Austin Steil, Kyle Schaffer, Tyson Squiers and Chris Higgins was also second.


Top individual efforts came from Zach Frey, who was second in the 400 Meter Dash (51.55) and bronze finishes from Josh Goerdt (200M, 23.15) and Jeff Schmidt (600M, 1:29.09).


The Duhawks continue their indoor season on Saturday at Cornell.
