The Duhawk men's basketball team dropped Wednesday night's road contest to Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, 74-70. A pair of Duhawks, Connor Mooney and Jake Rutan, led the team with 16 points.

Over the opening 20 minutes, the Duhawks played well, scoring 33 points and shooting 54% from the field. Rutan and Nathaniel Smith each scored six first half points. Loras was +10 on the glass and led by 10 points with two minutes to play in that opening frame.

In the second half, Loras again started strong, opening a 15-point lead with 15 minutes to play. The Storm began to chip away from that point on, shrinking Loras' lead to three points with eight minutes to play at 57-54. The Duhawks pushed back once more, leading 70-64 after a Mooney three-pointer with 2:41 to play.

Loras would be held off the scoreboard from that point on, as the Storm finished on a 10-0 run.

Mooney finished with four made three-pointers and went 5-for-13 from the field, including that 4-for-10 from behind the arc. Rutan was an efficient 7-for-8 from the field to get to his 16 points.

Loras returns to the AWC on Saturday for a 4:00 PM tipoff with the Central Dutch (8-6, 1-3).
