#11 Storm drop Duhawks to 2-2 in IIAC

The Loras College women's basketball team fell to 2-2 in the Iowa Conference and lost just their third game of 2012-13 on Wednesday night in Indianola, Iowa. The Simpson Storm took the win, 74-54, and remain atop the IIAC standings at 14-1 and 4-0. 

  

After an early back-and-forth with the hosts, Loras fell behind by 10 points near the nine minute mark of the first half. The #11 Storm ended up taking a 32-18 lead into halftime.

 

After a quick three-pointer from Niki Rivera in the second half the Duhawks had the lead to 11 points, but the Storm shot 54% in the final 20 minutes and pulled away.

 

Kaitlin Phillips came off the bench to go 5-for-6 from the field and lead the team with 12 points. Rachel Kerchefske also reached double figures off the bench, going 4-for-7 from the field (including 2-for-4 from long distance) to finish with 10 points in nine minutes.

 

Loras is now 12-3 overall and host Central College (8-7, 1-3) in the AWC on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
