Loras, 59

Coe, 56

The Loras College women's basketball team took their third and final lead of the game with 15 minutes yet to play in the first half, but the Kohawks didn't go quietly over the remaining 35 minutes.

Loras closed the first half on an 11-4 run and took a 30-20 lead into the locker room. They made 12 field goals to Coe's eight, and the teams combined to go 1-for-10 from long distance, sharpening the focus on how much of the game was played around the basket. Loras was 6-for-12 from the free throw line after getting into the bonus early on. Coe was 3-for-3 from the free throw line through 20 minutes.

In the second half, Loras held a double digit lead until the final nine minutes of the game. The Kohawks used a 9-0 run to get within three points at 46-43 with six minutes to play. The visitors were as close as two points away four times in the final three minutes. Kaitlin Phillips split her free throws with 17 seconds to play and Loras took a 59-56 lead into the final trip down the floor for the Coe offense. The Kohawks scrambled for three shots, including two which would have tied the game, but all were off the mark as time expired in the AWC.

Katie Langmeier had 11 points, five rebounds, and five steals for Loras. Brit Kent came off the bench to score 10 points, also pulling down five rebounds and claiming three steals. Each went 4-for-7 from the field.

Loras was +11 on the glass in the first half. They outscored the Kohawks off the bench, 31-17.

This week, Loras is at #14 Simpson College (13-1, 3-0) and return to the AWC on Saturday to play Central College (8-6, 1-2).
