Norse take IIAC swimming duals in Decorah

RESULTS

W: Luther 149, Loras 68

M: Luther 120, Loras 81

  

The Loras College men's and women's swimming teams were in Decorah on Saturday for their annual IIAC clash with the Luther Norse. The hosts prevailed in each event. Matt Bogen headlined Loras' successes on the day. 

  

MEN:

Matt Bogen won both the 500 and 1,000 Freestyle races on Saturday in 5:06 and 10:35, respectively. Grant Duncan was out-touched in the 50 Freestyle by just .02 seconds. Michael O'Toole was four seconds off the pace in the 200 Freestyle and less than two seconds from the 100 Freestyle title. Matt DeWane was second in the 200 Breaststroke.

 

John Maevski was the lone male diver on the day, scoring 251.30 points.

 

WOMEN:

The Duhawks earned runner-up finishes from Heather Black in the 100 and 200 Freestyle events (:58.34 and 2:06.82), Katie Callaghan in the 200 Butterfly (2:31.01), Elise Amo in the 500 Freestyle (5:44.23), and Lexie Mollahan in the 200 Breaststroke (2:39.02). They earned maximum points in the 400 Freestyle Relay after the Norse exhibitioned their top team. Loras' medley relay team was third.

 

Next up for the Duhawks is the University of Chicago Invitational. Saturday, the Duhawks will participate in the second half of the two-day event.
