Loras, 80

Principia, 57

The Loras College men's basketball team earned their third win of the 2012-13 season with a convincing 23-point victory over Principia on Saturday afternoon. They led wire-to-wire over the Panthers.

Alex Cline's 3-point field goal on the team's first possession foreshadowed what would be an impressive night for the Duhawks in many areas. Loras went 8-for-12 from the 3-point arc in the first half and led by as many 15 points in the first half before Nathaniel Smith's long distance shot made it a 16-point halftime lead on Loras' final offensive possession of the first half.

The Duhawks cooled off from long distance in the second half but still scored 38 points and shot 52% on the day.

Josh Bruns led the team in scoring with 13 points (to go with six rebounds) on 5-of-6 shooting, 2-of-2 long distance baskets, and an "and 1". Ryan Coon was 5-of-7 from the field for 11 points. 11 other Duhawks would crack the scoring column, including nine points apiece from Smith and Aaron Schueller.

Loras won the rebounding battle 47-29 and pulled down as many offensive rebounds as the Panthers did defensive rebounds (16). Loras' bench outscored Principia's 38-2.

The Duhawks (now 3-4 in 2012-13) are back in the AWC tomorrow for a 4:00 PM tipoff with Rockford College. The game will be available online HERE and locally on AM-1490 WDBQ.
