Wrestlers drop 2 of 3 against tough Wisconsin opponents

The Duhawks hit the road last weekend as they traveled up to Lacrosse, Wisconsin to take part in the Candlewood Suites Duals. The Duhawks first match was against the host, UW-Lacrosse Eagles, where they fell by a score of 37-3. The Duhawks then took on UW-Stevens Point in the second dual of the day. Loras wrestled close matches throughout, but fell short in the end losing 22-17. The Duhawks would earn their lone team victory on the weekend in a dual against UW-Eau Claire, winning 39-9.


Eight different Duhawk Wrestlers came out victourious over their opponents from UW-Eau Claire. Freshman Nick Steger recorded the best performances on the day, going undefeated in all three matches. Steger recorded two pinfalls against John Raycroft (UW-Stevens Point) and Ian Jones (UW-Eau Claire), while earning the decision over Connor Carstens (UW-LaCrosse). Other top performers on the weekend include junior Joe Butler and Connor Winel. Butler went 2-1 on the day, including two dominating victories of 17-6 and 8-1. After being defeated in his first match of the weekend, Winel would not allow a single point in his second two matches, winning by scores of 12-0 and 9-0.


The Duhawks will travel this weekend to Waverly, Iowa to participate in the Dick Walker Invite at Wartburg College on December 8th.
