UW-Eau Claire, 71

Loras, 58

After a hot shooting night on Saturday, come Monday the Duhawks had cooled off against the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds.

After a tough first half, shooting only 35% from the field, the Duhawks couldn't find a rhythm offensively.  Despite the first half troubles, the Duhawks went into the locker room at half only down four.  Connor Mooney led the team in first half points with 11 on 4-of-7 shooting.

In the second half, both teams made runs and were tied at 54-54 with 3:42 seconds left in the game.  The Blugolds were able to look to their seniors for some experience as the Blugolds sunk back-to-back threes which ended up being the deciding factor in the game and pushing them to a late-game run over the final three minutes. The Duhawks played a hard fought game, but were unable to halt the Blugolds.

Contributing for the Duhawks were Connor Mooney who finished the game with a 18 points and 3 steals, Nathaniel Smith who dropped in 12 points, and Ryan Coon nearly logged a double-double finishing with 8 points and 8 rebounds.

After shooting 1-for-16 from long distance in the first half, the visitors went 5-for-12 in the second 20 minutes.

The team is now 2-3 after their first five games. Loras will return to the Athletic & Wellness Center on Saturday for game three of the five game home stretch to take on crosstown rival Clarke Unviersity.  Tipoff is set for 4:00 pm.
