With a 3-0 start to 2012, the Women's Basketball team traveled to LaCrosse, Wisconsin and played in the UW-LaCrosse Holiday Inn Express Thanksgiving Classic. On Saturday, the Duhawks defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 75-60, but then lost to the hosts 81-70 on Sunday.

In Saturday's game, Loras had great performances from sophomore Katie Langmeier. She recorded her first double-double of 2012, scoring 16 points and collecting 10 rebounds, four of which were offensive. Langmeier was joined on the stat sheet by junior Katie Wheeler who tallied 12 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Loras recorded 29 of their 75 points off of turnovers, with 21 coming in the first half. Additionally, 13 of Loras' 23 rebounds were offensive, resulting in 15 points.

Sunday, the Duhawks took on the Eagles from UW-LaCrosse. In their first match of the Thanksgiving Classic, the Eagles lost to fellow Iowa Conference team Luther College 59-56. In a game of momentum swings, UW-LaCrosse broke out to their first substantial lead of the night after being tied 9-to-9. Going on a 14-2 run, Loras would fight back to tie it once again at 40. The Duhawks would later go on a 17-6 run to cut the new Eagles' lead to 59-57, but that was as close as they could make it. UW-LaCrosse would finish out the game going 9-of-10 from the charity stripe.

Senior Niki Rivera dropped 16 points and added five assists on the day. Sophomore Lauren Byrne and freshman Kaitlin Phillipps would each add 10 points, as well as Byrne adding five rebounds.

The Duhawks will return to action on Saturday when they host UW-Oshkosh at 2:00pm in the Athletics & Wellness Center.
