The NWCA #28 Loras College wrestling team continued their 2009-10 season with a double dual in Waverly, Iowa on Wednesday night against a pair of top ten teams. The Duhawks battled #5 St. John's (MN) and the host #6 Wartburg Knights in a pair of losses.

The Duhawks won a total of six matches on the night, including five over the Johnnies. Of the five wins over the Johnnies, the Duhawks posted five decisions and one major decision. The major came in the 141-pound match between Chris Gansen and Jay Woiwor. Gansen scored 16 points in the win, allowing only seven to his opponent. Other wins came against from Pat Pfantz, Mitch Gansen (in OT), Josh Kirkland, and Jeremy Klein. The Duhawks outscored the Johnnies by six points, 31-25 in those four victories.

Against the host Knights, the on-the-mat success was limited to Tiegen Podliska's pin of Zach Hyland at 3:25 of the 165-pound match. Podliska scored Loras' six team points in the fall.

Loras has more duals on tap at this weekend's UW-LaCrosse 2 X 4 Duals. The Duhawks will have their first home dual of the year on December 9 when they host the Dubuque Spartans at 7:00 pm.
