Emory, 2

Loras, 1

The Loras College women's soccer team had their 12 game winning streak halted in the Sweet 16 round of the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship on Saturday. Loras fell to Emory, 2-1.

Emily Feldman netted late first half goals separated by less than two minutes to put the Eagles in front after 40 minutes. The Duhawks answered with a goal of their own when Ailish Rispin forced a shot past the Eagles' goalkeeper in the 75th minute. Loras continued with late pressure to try and tie the match, but weren't able to generate an equalizer. Lynn DeVriese did put one more shot on goal, but Kaele Leonard was able to make the save.

The Eagles outshot Loras 12-4 overall, but Loras put each of their shots on frame. Emory put half of their 12 on goal.

The Duhawks end 2012 at 19-5. They put six players on the All-IIAC squad this year (three others Honorable Mention), including co-MVP Kinsey Campbell, and head coach Dan Rothert was co-Coach of the Year. Of the team's five losses, four were to NCAA tournament teams, two of them are in the Final Four, and another reached the Elite 8.

The team went 12-1 at home this season and were 7-0 in the Iowa Conference regular season on their way to the title and won the league's tournament earlier this month as well.
