The 2012-2013 Duhawk men's basketball team is excited to get the season started.  After narrowly missing the conference tournament the past two years, the Duhawks are focused and determined to compete at the highest level possible every day.

Head Coach Greg Gorton expects them to use their depth and their up-tempo style of play to try and wear down their opponents.

"We're going to always play ten (players) early, and try to do the best we can to put pressure on the other team with tempo," Gorton declared.

After losing five key seniors last year, the Duhawks will rely heavily on their returners to lead the team, especially co-captains, Connor Mooney and Nathaniel Smith.

Connor Mooney will be looked at to re-take the reins at the point guard spot, after suffering a season-ending knee injury last season.

"He is such a great leader, and one of our co-captains, and a guy that we can rely on, and really leads us verbally and through his actions, and so I'm really excited to get him back on the floor," is what Gorton said about getting back his senior point guard.

A very good crop of recruits coming in will complement the returners very well.

Along with the new recruits, there is also a new face on the sidelines next to Gorton.   Twenty-six year old Buddy Sodemann joined the Duhawks staff this summer after the departure of Ryan Kane.

"Certainly he has worked with a lot of great coaches and brings in a tremendous amount of skill…He's added so much value already to us it's hard to even quantify.  Our players really have a lot of respect for him," Gorton stated.
