The Loras College men's basketball team won their first Iowa Conference tilt of the season, 80-71, over the University of Dubuque on Wednesday night with the help of Tim Kelly's season high 18 points. Three other players scored in double figures for Loras, including Tyson Handsaker's 11 points, nine of which came on 3-of-4 shooting from behind the arc.

Loras also received 10 points and seven rebounds from big man Alex Brant, who made his third start of the season for head coach Greg Gorton's Duhawks. In addition to Brant's 10 and Kelly's 18, the front line also benefited from Dan Pawelski's 12 points off the bench. The trio combined to shoot 14-for-27 (51.8%) from the field and grab 17 rebounds. Pawelski and Kelly are each in the top ten in the Iowa Conference in field goal percentage through seven games.

The Duhawks led nearly wire to wire against their cross town rivals and have won back to back games for the first time this season and are now back above .500 at 4-3. They will host the Buena Vista Beavers in the AWC on Saturday at approximately 4:00 pm.
