Six Duhawks selected to be a part of All-IIAC Team

For the first time in years, a freshman from Loras College has been selected for the All-Conference team as a freshman. From Shullsburg, Wisconsin, Nate Carrier came right onto the scene in Dubuque and performed from day one. Over the course of the season, Carrier racked up 1,210 yards on the ground, including five touchdowns, and an average of 134.4 yard per game.

None of that would have been possible without his offensive line, consisting of Sam Ross, Nick Holeton, Andrew McFadden, Alex Lehmann, Michael Donnelly, and Dan Murray. Holeton joins the team as a 2nd team All-Conference Selection. Ross was chosen as an Honorable Mention. It is the second time he has been selected, the first coming in 2011 as an Honorable Mention.

On defense, Loras had three players selected as Honorable Mentions to this year's All-Conference team. Senior linebacker Brandon Ronan finished the year with 75 tackles, one sack, and one interception. Senior defensive lineman Aaron Strong contributed 30 tackles and one sack. Sophomore Dave Pirkle finished with 53 tackles, one interception, and six pass breakups.

Loras will look to lean on the strong 2012 performances from Carrier and Pirkle as they begin to transition to 2013.
