The Loras College women's basketball team opened the Iowa Conference portion of the schedule with a win on Wednesday night over the University of Dubuque at the Stoltz Center, home of the Spartans.

The 93-72 win was fueled by a balanced attack, aggressive rebounding, and a defense that forced 24 turnovers. Five players scored in double figures, including three off the bench, and seven players had at least eight points for the Duhawks. They also spread around their 47 rebounds (18 offensive), with five players pulling down at least four.

Over the course of the 40 minutes, Loras added 11 three point field goals on 20 attempts to help them post their best point total of the season with 93. The Duhawks had four players hit multiple threes, including Sarah Pillon's 3-for-5 effort. Katie Wheeler added four steals for Loras, who essentially controlled the game from tipoff to final buzzer.

Iowa Conference reigning player of the week Jennifer Nichols scored a game high 29 points in the loss for Dubuque.

The Duhawks will host Buena Vista in the AWC on Saturday in their second IIAC game of the year at 2:00 pm. Loras swept the season series a year ago by a combined 11 points.
