With a loud and supportive student section on hand, the Duhawk Swimming & Diving teams opened up their 2012 season in resounding fashion handedly defeating Coe College 116-55 (M) and 101-77 (W).

 

In their first swim meets as a part of the Duhawk squad, Elise Amo, Heather Black, and Logan Miller all recorded victories for Loras. Amo won in the 1000 yard Freestyle (11:52.11) and 500 yard Freestyle (5:40.64). Black won the 200 yard Freestyle (2:08.45) and 100 yard Backstroke (1:09.85) events. Miller captured the 100 yard Butterfly win (1:06.16).

 

Topping the night was sophomore Lexie Mollahan who won the 200 yard Individual Medley with  a time of 2:23.32, the 100 yard Freestyle (58.26), and the 100 yard Breaststroke (1:13.67).

 

On the men's side, the Duhawks were led by sophomore Matt Bogen who recorded victories in the 1000 yard Freestyle(10:37.29) and 500 yard Freestyle (5:10.23). Adding victories of his own were freshman Austin Lewis, who won in the 200 yard Freestyle (1:57.59) and in the 100 yard Freestyle (51.96). Freshman Zack Benson powered his way to two victories on the night, one in the 200 yard Individual Medley (2:08.99) and 100 yard Breaststroke (1:05.49).

 

The Duhawks head to the Monmouth Invitational this weekend before returning to San Jose pool on November 16 & 17 to take on Simpon College and Grinnell College.
