Duhawks season halted in Waverly in IIAC title match
Sat, Nov. 3, 2012 - [Women's Volleyball]

#11 Wartburg, 3

Loras, 0

(25-18, 25-16, 25-18)

The Duhawk volleyball squad went 5-2 in the Iowa Conference in 2012. They won 17 matches. They went 7-3 at home in the AWC.  They put two players on the All-Iowa Conference list released yesterday – and another made the Honorable Mention list. They pulled of a #3/#2 upset on the road on Thursday night in Cedar Rapids. After a loss on Saturday in the 2012 Iowa Conference championship game, it all came to an abrupt but bittersweet end.

The host Knights took control of the title match early and kept their foot on the gas as the Duhawks' tried to mount comeback after comeback. After three sets Wartburg had kept the Duhawks at a safe distance to claim the win and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.

Individually, Kara Grant posted a team high eight kills. Shawn Rielly had 10 assists and Courtney Boyd 12. Grant and Regan Riley each had nine digs.

Wartburg had 35 total kills to Loras' 25 and they had six blocks to the Duhawks' three.

With the loss, Loras bids farewell to a very productive senior class of Regan Riley, Cassie Crabill, and Kenzie Goedken - who were a part of the 2012 Iowa Conference title team.
