#4 Loras, 6
Simpson, 0

After suffering a defeat just 11 days ago, the Simpson Storm trekked to Dubuque to take on the Duhawks once again. Hoping for a better outcome than the 7-0 defeat they suffered in the regular season, the Storm assembled their troops and headed into battle. Unfortunately, little would change this time around.

Beginning in the 14th minute, Johnny Rummelhart tucked away the prettiest goal of his Duhawk career. The shot was struck with such finesse that it curled into the upper 90, out of the reach of the Simpson keeper. Kevin Cavers kept the pressure on when he tallied in the 16th minute for his sixth goal of the year on a long free kick that made its way through traffic in front of the Simpson goal. Sean Lewis concluded the first half scoring in the 29th minute from an assist by Ryan Schneider. Throughout the half Loras continued their swarming presence making every pass a hassle for the Storm.

It didn't take long for Loras to get back to business in the second half, as Kevin Cavers was taken down just outside the 18, setting up Louie Oswald with a gold free kick opportunity. The senior from Dubuque did not disappoint, scoring for the first time since opening night by sending the free kick off the near post and into the back of the net. The Duhawks would add tallies from Alejandro Cosmopolis and Jonathan Colucci in the 71st and 79th minutes.

Just before the Loras/Simpson went final, the #6 seed Central College Dutch scored in the second overtime at Oyen Field to knock off the #2 seeded University of Dubuque Spartans in the other semifinal. The Dutch and the Duhawks will square off Saturday night in the Rock Bowl at 7:30 pm for the Iowa Conference Tournament Championship and the automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Tournament. Loras is seeking their third consecutive tournament title. 2012 marks the tenth straight appearance in the league's tournament championship game.
