Wagner leads Loras to 3rd place finish at IIAC Championship

RESULTS, Loras 3rd/8

 

The Loras College women's cross country team finished in 3rd place at the 2012 Iowa Conference Championship on Saturday in Cedar Rapids. The team scored 87 points and each of the scoring Duhawks were among the top 25 in the field of 116 runners. 

  

Leading the way for Loras was Kellie Wagner, who ran Loras' tenth fastest time in program history on Saturday. Wagner was 10th overall with a 23:04. Maria Kalb joined Wagner on the All-Iowa Conference podium with her 15th place finish. Kalb was finished in 23:29.

 

The third, fourth, and fifth place spots for Loras were Nora Gawlik in 18th in 23:45, Katie Flogel in 21st in 23:51, and Bridget Hall in 23rd in 24:05.

 

"I am really proud of our women's efforts today," head coach Bob Schultz said after the meet.

 

"Our goal was top three and we finished third.  We had a lot of PR's and with two All-Conference finishers in this conference, I couldn't be happier."
