Clarke takes regular season finale
Sun, Oct. 28, 2012 - [Women's Volleyball]

Clarke, 3

Loras, 0

(25-21, 25-18, 25-16)

The Loras College volleyball team paid tribute to their senior class on Friday night in the Athletics and Wellness Center as neighbor Clarke University helped the Duhawks close out the 2012 regular season. Cassie Crabill, Kenzie Goedken, and Regan Riley each had their careers recognized prior to the match.

Once things got started on the court, the Duhawks made an early push to control the first set. The Crusaders would have a counter punch waiting and would go on to win the closest set of the night 25-21.

Loras' offense would sputter and the Crusaders would take advantage over the final two sets.

The Crusaders would hit .258 in the final two sets to the Duhawks' 13 kills and 13 errors over the final two frames. Clarke went on to win 25-18 and 25-16 in sets two and three.

Individually, Regan Riley led the way with 10 kills to just one error on a night she hit .360.

The Duhawks will now employ some short memories ahead of post season play. The Iowa Conference Tournament begins on Tuesday night in the AWC when Central College comes to Dubuque for a first round matchup. Loras is the #3 seed and the Dutch #6. Last week in Pella, the Duhawks won a 3-0 match to wrap up Iowa Conference play. Regan Riley led all hitters in that match with 16 kills.

In 2011 in the regular season matchup, Loras won 3-0 on Think Pink Night. Loras was the #4 seed and Central the #5 seed (both 4-4 in the IIAC regular season) when the Dutch ended Loras' 2011 campaign with a 3-0 win of their own in the AWC.
