The Loras College volleyball team hosted their inaugural Loras College Invitational over the weekend and produced a pair of wins to go with a pair of losses. The team won a thrilling 3-2 victory over UW-Oshkosh and fell to Dubuque on Friday. On Saturday, another 5-set contest went into the loss column, this time to Luther. Loras closed the tourney with a convincing sweep of Iowa Wesleyan.

Loras opened the tournament with a pair of 5-set matches. The first was a loss to Dubuque, who Loras defeated back on September 12. Friday's loss was the first at home for the Duhawks this season. Kara Grant and Regan Riley posted a team high 14 kills in the loss. Shawn Rielly split put up a season high 49 assists during the loss. Five different Duhawks posted double-digit dig totals.

As frustrating as it was to lose the final two sets to Dubuque, it may have been equally as glorifying to rally and win against Oshkosh. The Duhawks were led by 16 kills from Grant and 13 from Regan Riley. Five Duhawks once again logged double digits digs as the teams were equally as effective at the net with seven blocks each. Loras controlled much of the final set, winning 15-9, with a large contingency of fellow Duhawks in the stands to cheer them on.

Saturday, the Duhawks returned to the AWC with a 5-set loss to Luther. In September, Loras also defeated Luther at home – also in a 5-set match. This time the Norse had the extra push needed to get the victory. They had more left in the tank and won the decisive set 15-6. Kara Grant had 15 kills for the Duhawks. Courtney Boyd and Shawn Rielly split the setter duties and each posted 19 assists.

Loras finished the weekend with a sweep of Iowa Wesleyan. A total of 17 Duhawks took the court, with Liz Jendra logging a team high seven kills. Christa Winders had 11 digs and Shawn Rielly had 21 assists.

Kara Grant was named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the tournament.

"I want to thank all those who helped us host a great event and those who came to watch us compete," head coach Teresa Kehe said on Saturday evening. "We enjoyed the support and hope to see everyone back on Friday for Senior Night."

Loras is at Central College in Pella, Iowa on Tuesday to close out the 2012 IIAC schedule. They'll return to the AWC on Friday night for Senior Night when they host Clarke University. Both matches will begin at 7:30.
