Buena Vista, 42

Loras, 19

Despite last week's loss to Simpson, Loras came out with hopes of sticking to their strong offensive capabilities and get a ‘W' on the board. The story of the day, though, would be points off of turnovers for Buena Vista as they would capitalize on two interceptions, a fumble, and a turnover on downs - adding up to 28 points for the Beavers.

The stat sheet does tell a bit of a different story, however. Freshman phenom Nate Carrier carried the ball 33 times for 226 yards, but failed to reach the end zone. Dylan Jones went 14-of-35 in the air for 181 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. Loras' offense totaled 443 yards to BVU's 395, but the score wasn't climbing up at the same rate for the Duhawks as it was the Beavers.

Nate Even caught a 27-yard touchdown pass from Jones on a post and Scott Shewmon caught his first touchdown pass as a Duhawk in the back of the end zone late in the fourth quarter from five yards out.

Tyler Wilker accounted for the rest of the scoring, knocking through field goals of 25 and 35 yards and converting his one extra point attempt.

Defensively, Mike Canevello logged 16 tackles and pulled down an interception to lead that unit on the stat sheet.

Loras will certainly look to learn from this game and hope to that knowledge next week as they will take to the road to Pella, Iowa and play the Central College Dutch. The Dutch sit at 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the Iowa Conference. They defeated Luther 31-14 on Saturday.

Loras fell to 2-5 with the loss, and are 1-3 in the Iowa Conference.
