The Duhawks fell to 2-4 and 1-2 in the Iowa Conference at the hands of the Simpson College Storm in Indianola on Saturday.


Loras was up against the top passing offense in the conference, averaging 334 yards per game. Against the Duhawks, Simpson was held to only 193 yards through the air, but added 193 yards on the ground which was well above their average of 79 yards per game.


The lone score for the Duhawks came with 1:56 left in the 1st half, when sophomore quarterback Dylan Jones hit senior Kyle Killian in the end zone for a seven yard TD pass. The score capped off an 11 play, 82 yard drive for Loras.


Jones finished 14-of-37 for 238 yards and one touchdown, but was sacked six times on the day. Freshman standout Nate Carrier, who was averaging 132 yards per game, was held to 72 yards on the ground.


On defense, freshman Tucker Brady lead the team with 12 tackles (8 solo, 2 TFL). Senior Dan Badovinac followed up Brady's performance with 10 tackles (5 solo).


Loras will return to the Rock Bowl on Saturday to host the Buena Vista Beavers. BVU captured their first win of the 2012 season last week with their defeat of Central, 30-25. Both teams now sit at 1-2 in the IIAC.


Saturday will also be the Duhawks' 2012 ‘Take A Kid To The Game' event. Local youth teams, the cheerleaders who support them, and their families are all invited to participate in the event.
