As the Duhawks started their pre-season workouts to gear up for the 2012-2013 season, they took one Wednesday evening in September to lend a hand at St. Patrick's Church soup kitchen.

The Duhawks spent the evening helping prepare and serve meals at St. Patrick's Church.  Center Ryan Coon, also had the opportunity to lead the dining hall in prayer.

Head Coach Greg Gorton had this say about his team taking time to volunteer: "It is important to me that the coaches on this team help build balanced and well-rounded people that are prepared for the real world."

Every year Gorton's men take part in a service project within the community.  This was the first time the Duhawks volunteered at St. Patrick's, after previously spending time helping out at Camp Albrecht Acres.

"One of the greatest things about volunteering and serving others is the profound effect the service has on you," Gorton added.

The Duhawks kick off their season with practice at 12:00 a.m. on Monday. Their first game is November 16 against Millikin at Illinois Wesleyan University.
