The Loras College women's tennis team was in Cedar Rapids over the weekend to compete in the 2012 Iowa Conference Individual Tournament. A total of 10 Duhawks took to the court in singles play, and Elizabeth Dickhut led that charge as Loras' representative in the Flight A Singles.

Dickhut, a sophomore from Appleton, Wisconsin, was the #6 seed in the top flight after going 10-3 in the regular season at #1 singles, including a 6-1 record against conference opponents. She began her day on Friday with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Coe's Jordan Ferree. In the quarterfinal matchup, she was matched up against #3 seed Cassandra Chalhoub of Luther. Chalhoub won the first set 6-3 and then the second set 6-1 to knock Dickhut out of the tournament with a 1-1 record.

Four Duhawks were in the Flight B singles tournament. Caroline Rainey and Est Mungai each won opening round matches before being eliminated in the round of 16. Rachel Weglarz and Sarah Alt lost their opening matches. Five more Duhawks went 0-1 in the Flight C Singles.

Dickhut and Mungai were paired together in the Flight A Doubles and just missed the quarterfinals with an opening round loss to a Luther duo in a tiebreaker. Both teams were unseeded.

Each of the four Flight B Doubles teams for Loras dropped their first round matches.

The tournament concluded the fall 2012 schedule for the Duhawks. They have historically played a few matches in the spring and we will post those dates when they are finalized.
