Loras, 3

Rockford, 0

(25-14, 25-16, 25-21)

A day after dropping a road contest to IIAC co-leader Coe College, the Duhawks returned to the comforts of home in the Athletics and Wellness Center to play non-conference foe Rockford College on Thursday night.

Loras was out of the gate quickly, mounting an early lead and forcing timeouts from the Regents, eventually taking Set #1 with the largest margin of victory on the night, 11 points.

In Set #2, the Duhawks remained in control mounting another lead and cruising to a 25-16 win.

Set #3 was the closest of the three, and after Loras opened another early lead, the Regents forced the Duhawks into a late timeout after a late run at 24-21. Loras was able to close things out on the next point, when backup setter Courtney Boyd twisted a pass over the net for the match-winner.

Kenzie Goedken paced the offense with her 11 kills (and just one error) on 18 attempts. Four other Duhawks logged at least four kills during the three-setter. Shawn Rielly put up 23 assists in the first two sets, and Boyd added 12 in the final frame. Kirsten Schultz was second on the team with nine kills – and she added a solo block and three block assists. Micaela Mertens posted a team high 13 digs.

Loras out-hit Rockford .311 to .038 on the night and out-blocked them 7-1.

The Duhawks are off this weekend until a midweek trip to Indianola, Iowa to take on Simpson College (5-14, 1-3) next Wednesday.
