Loras, 2

Luther, 0

With the month of September wrapping up, the men's soccer team traveled to Decorah to take on the Luther College Norse, in a matchup that proved to be the difference between first and second place in 2011. The last time the Duhawks were in Decorah, they stole the Iowa Conference Tournament crown by defeating Luther 1-0 on a late first half goal from then freshman Johnny Rummelhart.

Luther came into Saturday's match with a 6-2-2 record and 0-1 in the IIAC following a 1-0 loss at Central the previous week. Certainly the Norse were hoping to avoid an 0-2 start to conference play, but the Duhawks would have plans of their own.

With a four game winning streak in hand, the Duhawks planned to take care of business from the start, and followed through with a goal by junior Erik Berkowitz in the 19th minute. The goal would be his seventh on the year. The Duhawks would battle through a boisterous Norse fan base on hand all night, but would not be swayed from the end goal.

Senior Sean Lewis would add the insurance mark in the 83rd minute on an assist from JoJo Schmidt. Fifth-ranked Loras now moves to 11-1-1 overall and 2-0 in the IIAC and will take on Central College, Saturday in the Rock Bowl.
