Three Duhawks recognized by the IIAC

The week ending September 30, 2012 IIAC Athletes of the Week includes three Duhawks this week. 

Loras College seniors Abby Potts and Brandon Ronan, along with junior Dylan Milkent earned IIAC Player of the Week awards in their sports this week.

Football (defense) — Brandon Ronan, Loras College, Waukon, Iowa / Waukon
Ronan, a senior linebacker, had a team-high 12 tackles, including six solo and 1.0 for loss, and a fourth-quarter interception that helped preserve a 28-25 Loras victory over Luther Sept. 29.



Men's Soccer (defense) — Dylan Milkent, Loras College, Wheaton, Ill. / Glenbard South
Milkent, a junior goalkeeper, posted 2-0 shutouts over Wheaton (Ill.) and Luther last week -- teams that have both spent time in the top 25 this season. He now has eight shutouts, most of any IIAC goalkeeper. Milkent made four saves against the Thunder and two against Luther.




Women's Golf — Abby Potts, Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa / Hempstead & Kelsi Sawatzky, Wartburg College, Ankeny, Iowa / Ankeny
Potts and Sawatzky, both seniors, are tied for the medalist lead at the midway point of the Iowa Conference Women's Golf Championships. Potts fired rounds of 75 and 77 for a 152 total, posting a birdie in each round. Sawatzky fired rounds of 74 and 78 to match Potts at 152, picking up a pair of birdies in each round.
