Tue, Sep. 25, 2012 - [Men's Cross Country]

The Loras College men's cross country team posted a team total of 146 on September 21 in Rock Island, Illinois at Augustana's Brissman-Lundeen meet. That team total tied the Duhawks with Grinnell College for third place.

Each of Loras' top seven runners were in the top 50 scoring slots. The top five Duhawks were in the top 47 slots.

Leading the way for the Duhawks was senior Austin Steil, who crossed the finish line in 15th place in the field of over 450 runners. Steil was the lone Duhawk to break the 26 minute mark, completing the course in 25:55.

Following Steil to the finish line were Ty Wittman (21st), Rob Howe (31st), Steve Loran (32nd), and Ryan Sheeran (47th). That group was only 31 seconds apart, stretching from 26:03 to 26:34.

Chris Higgins and Kyle Wagner were just steps behind Sheeran in 49th and 50th.

Loras' top finisher in the first two events of the season, Jerry Olp, was held out of the lineup to rest on Friday.

Next up for the Duhawks is a trip to the course where the 2012 national championship will be held. Rose-Hulman will host their Pre-Nationals event on October 6 in Terre Haute Indiana.
