#4 Loras, 1

A second weather delay of 2012 against a UW-school pushed the start time back by 20 minutes in Platteville on Wednesday night, and then 20 minutes later, Brandon Chmiel had the hosts in front 1-0.

The senior posted his fifth goal of 2012 to give the hosts the lead, marking just the third goal the Duhawks had conceded this season – all on the road.

Eleven minutes later, he struck again for his sixth of the season - this time on a free kick into the upper corner - doubling the lead.

"We were chasing the game the rest of the way," head coach Dan Rothert said to the Telegraph Herald after the game.

Rothert felt #4 Loras controlled the tempo, and certainly the shot advantage (21-8 overall, 9-4 on goal) but wasn't crushed by the loss.

"It is a learning lesson for us," he told the Telegraph Herald.

Just before the half, Erik Berkowitz headed in an Andy Filipiak free kick to cut the lead in half. It was the junior's third goal of the season.

The Duhawks forced three saves from Pioneers' goalkeeper Ian Christensen in the first 15 minutes of the second half, but couldn't push an equalizer past him. The Duhawks hit the post twice over the 90 minute match.

The overall records for the teams are now identical at 7-1-1.

Loras will host games in the Rock Bowl on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. The Iowa Conference schedule opens with the Buena Vista Beavers (4-1-1) in town for a 1:00 PM kickoff on Saturday. The UW-Superior Yellowjackets (6-2) will be in for a noon kickoff on Sunday.
