The Loras College women's soccer team started 2012 on the road and took a loss after taking an early 1-0 lead over Augustana College on Friday night. 

  

The Duhawks were on the scoreboard first in the 21st minute when Madeline Tennant took a Hillary Wilson assist and netted Loras' first goal of 2012.

 

Ten minutes later the hosts had tied the score on what would be the first of three goals by Kelly Farrell. Before the teams broke for halftime Morgan Olsen had put the Vikings in front. Olsen converted a long distance free kick to make it 2-1 in the 40th minute.

 

Just six minutes into the second half Augustana extended their lead to 3-1 on Farrell's second of the night. Farrell completed the hat trick in the in the 57th minute and closed out the scoring for the hosts.

 

Loras' attempt at a comeback found a bit of life in the 71st minute when Abby Maier scored her first Loras College goal. The Duhawks would manage two more shots on goal but Vikings goalkeeper Meredith Chew saved each attempt.

 

The result puts the Duhawks at 0-1 to start 2012. They return to the Rock Bowl for a Sunday afternoon match against St. Mary's at 4:30 p.m.
