Seniors-to-be Sam Ross (Epworth, Iowa) and Brandon Ronan (Waukon, Iowa) represent half of the 2012 Loras College football captains following the recent spring football season. The team voted at the conclusion of the recent practice sessions to award the duo with the captainship. The duo was nearly a unanimous decision.
"These guys lead by example and set a very high standard for all to follow," head coach Paul Mierkiewicz said shortly after announcing the selections to the team.
"We are looking for guys that do things the right way and are an extension of the coaching staff," he added. "I think both are excellent choices."
Ross has anchored the offensive line at the center positions for two years now. Ronan was third on the 2011 team with 79 tackles and two forced fumbles.
The final two captains will be selected at the conclusion of fall camp.

The first home game for the Duhawks is the season opener against Elmhurst College on September 1. Homecoming 2012 is scheduled for the weekend of September 28-30 against Luther College.
