Duhawks finish in second place at Monmouth

The Loras College women's track and field team finished in second place out of nine teams on Saturday at the Monmouth Fighting Scots meet. The Duhawks logged a total of 98 team points.




Emily Sotelo won the women's 400 meter hurdle with a time 1:07 and Kayla Balke finished right behind her with a time of 1:08. The team of Molly, Pilcher, Laura Wondra, Briauna Richardson and Emily Roth placed third in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 51.46 seconds. In the javelin throw, Kirsten Schultz finished third with a throw of 108'-10". Laura Wondra finished third in long jump with a jump of 17'-6". Caitlin Groeper finished third in high jump with a jump of 5'-5", the same as teammate Katie Langmeier, who earned fifth place points. In the pole vault, Rachel Kolbeck finished third with a second place height of 10'-8.75". In the hammer throw, Meggen Elsen finished second with a throw of 168'-1" – good for 13th on the NCAA Division III list.


The Duhawks will compete at the 2012 Iowa Conference Championships this weekend down the road at the University of Dubuque. A year ago, the Duhawks finished in fifth place at Cornell College.
