Duhawks bring home titles at Loras Open

The Loras College women's track and field team hosted their annual open event on Saturday and won six events in the soggy conditions, including four running events, one jumping event, and one throwing event.


Katie Langmeier continued to produce winning results in the High Jump. The sophomore claimed the title with a 5'-5" effort, edging teammate Caitlin Groeper, who finished in second place at 5'-3".


Kirsten Schultz offered the top Javelin Throw on Saturday. She was the lone competitor to eclipse the 100' mark. Her winning toss went 106'-7", about eight feet further than teammate and runner-up Michelle McWilliams, who posted a 98'-8".


On the track, Briauna Richardson won the 200 Meter Dash in 26.90. Katie Flogel was best in the 1500 Meter Run with a 5:02.71 – winning by six seconds. In the 400 Meter Hurdles, Emily Sotelo was almost two seconds ahead of teammate Kayla Balke with a 1:06.81. Kelsey Kruse continued to have success in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase, posting a 12:02 to win the event by nearly 12 seconds.


The Duhawks will close the regular season at Monmouth College this weekend. The Iowa Conference Championships are at the University of Dubuque on May 11-12.
